These are just independent artists' renderings, the actual Mk3 RS design from Ford is a ways off yet. I'd expect to see concepts in the next year or so though.

Still not confirmed for the US, and I'm personally not holding my breath. It's going to be a very slow seller over here.

It looks cool but it is wrong wheel drive. Why not get an STI, mustang gt, or evo for that money?

was refering to cars of its type, you know the front wheel drive hatchback type. gotta also remember that its first few years state side prices will be marked up just becuase of the factso many people begged and begged for it to come state side. they see those people as money bags willing to spend what they have to in order to get it. its not a car that is being pushed towards the everyday person but instead towards a ford focus fan that has a nice pocket and loves weekend warrior cars. most likely will be limited production to meaning that the price will be hiked some just because they arent gonna mass produce them.

What we need is as much aftermarket support that they have for subies, audi's'...shit all of the over priced imports sold here for the current focus & fiesta platforms. Back in the early 2000's I liked the idea of buying a zx3 for 14k & modding it with another 10-15k & whooping some evo/sti a$$ for less money. AWD is for trucks or off road racing. On the street I grew up driving open diff. & 2WD cars & am a more skilled driver because of it even in Colorado winters.

There's a lot of cars that will outperform a FWD RS for the same or less money. Build quality of the Focus is still a bit subpar even if you sell it at $40k.

I spent 8 years racing my AWD Eclipse up at Bandi for 8 years and AWD was the reason I was beating Viper GTSs with less ponies since traction is a big part of the game and I've never even seen a Focus that was even close to touching my car and the FWD cars that could beat me were far and inbetween.

You do watch Top Gear from time to time, right?
Nissan GT-R,Lambo,Audi R8s are AWD and none of them have off road racing in mind. AWD is for slick hard surfaces whether they are wet or dry. Ken Block can't Gymkhana without AWD. I love the control you have with AWD and I'm a solid driver without it but I'm quite awesome with a little help.

^^ That's techinically false, you CAN gymkhana with RWD. For reference:
