Powershift is Ford's trademark for their DCT, and Selectshift is the manual mode on an automatic transmission produced by Ford.

The Focus with Powershift DCT is available with the select shift manual and sport mode, but the Taurus is not available with the Powershift transmission despite the select shift compatibility.

These features can be together or mutually exclusive.

The 6F50 has reportedly been mildly better, but the 6F35 has been known for harsh shifts, excessive shift flare, etc.

This past summer I had the pleasure of driving my friends 2010 Mustang Roush.
What made that car fun to drive. Was listening to the 430 tire smoking HP, while I was shifting through the gears!
It took my buddy and hour to pry me out of the drivers seat, and a whole day to wipe the grin off my face.
I personally think the car would not be as much fun, had it been an automatic.
I have been driving stick for 36 years. And 36 years later, I still feel the same way.
Manual for the win! :-)

If Ford can match the performance of VW's Doppelkupplungsgetriebe, then the performance cars wil have an "auto"

But not until then.
