Hey. Just bought a 05 Ford Focus ZX4, and thought the tires looked excellent, well the snow started falling, light snow, heavy snow, ANY snow and my car just slides, it feels like it "lifts" up , Its really VERY scary. Im a mom with 2 small children, Plus I drive for a living. I looked up the tires on my car (Goodyear Eagle RS?) and read tons of the same issues of lifting, and terrible in snow, Well here in Wisconsin, WE have LOTS of snow. LOL. Im seriously driving with the death grip , and am scared every morning when snow is on the ground. I have looked up numerous tire info. My budget isnt huge, But obviously, Im going to need better tires, All season...just something that will handle better in snow. Any help would be great. Thank You.

Well lets start with the obvious, do you know what size tire you have on there right now they come with 15" which is the most common, or do you have the 16"

There are plenty of options out there in your size that will perform great. Price point wise the Hankook Optimo H727 actually does very well for snow traction, but I'm not a fan of it's performance in the wet. I would probably direct you towards a Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus.
Let me know what you think. If you have any other questions though please feel free to call me at the contact info below here at The Tire Rack.

if you have that much snow and drive so much, i would consider getting dedicated snow tires. It may cost a little extra up front, but it would save wear on your summer tires, and it is way cheaper than getting in an accident
from tirerack four 195/60R15 General Altimax Arctic for 2005 Ford Focus mounted on new steel wheels. 492$ + shipping (probably about another 50-100$) just the tires is ~300$
