Mercedes Benz CLA

What do you all think of the new Benz? Starting at 30k, 208 hp, 258 ft-lb torque... not bad. Makes me reconsider the ST if I can get a Mercedes for around the same price.

i think it looks wicked and i would totally drive one. loved the commercial last night. its just the cost of ownership that would make me shy away from it. Mercedes maintenance, i assume, is a biatch if you want to maintain your warranty.

I've always liked BMW's more... And I'm a big fan of the 1 series!

Same here. For whatever reason, Mercs don't do much for me, even the AMG versions. This low-cost CLA is an interesting move by Mercedes though, so I'll be curious to see how it performs and sells. The base stats seem to imply that it will underperform given its price.

The CLA truly looks amazing. I think it would be perfect for a young businessman, not ready to give up on small, sporty cars, but at the same time, looking for a way to get away from the whole boy-racer image haha (not that the ST has a boy-racer image or anything, but you know what I mean)

If it was 5 years later and I was out of school with a good job and could afford it, I would totally buy one

Plus, endorsed by Kate Upton? Thats another strike in the right direction..

I have a gut feeling that the quality will equal that of a present day Hyundai, with the maintenance cost of a German car.

Reliability and maintenance are going to be the key factors with the Mercedes-Benz. They have less than a savory record when it comes to reliability in their models and the costs of maintenance is outrageous for the average consumer. They are more or less status symbols if anything. They do make some good cars but the overall reliability just kills Mercedes. They are usually along the same lines of reliability as Land Rover and Chrysler.
