Chances of Auto ST w/in next few model years

even so... if the Boss 302 (which i look at the ST as the Boss 302 of the Focus line up) doesn't have an optional automatic, it's highly unlikely IMO the ST will get one, not to mention the GT500. hell, Ford didn't even offer an automatic on the ZX4 ST and it wasn't as near as performance oriented as its SVT predecessor or its ST successor..

OK, it ain't happening, I lied, that is what I do. The ST will be manual only. Man I feel much better now.

Besides the Taurus has a dct that doesn't have nearly the problems the Focus has. They could make one that works if they tried. I would guess the Taurus works better due to the low end torque increase. The Taurus is also available with same basic engine as the st. They simply don't want to make an auto and I think better of them because of it

If you want an auto that bad spend the extra 4000 and get a Taurus

The Taurus has a traditional automatic transmission. A 6F35 with the 2.0 L ecoboost, and the 6F50 on the 3.5 and 3.5L twin turbo ecoboost V6.

True, they are select shift and that's what I read. That trans still fills what a few people want.

I don't like autos. I've owned close to the same number of autos to manuals and I haven't broken a manual yet. No clutches either in manuals. I'm at three automatics in three different cars that have gone bad. Granted two were in trucks and I used them to pull things. But I didn't break the one manual transmission truck I've had and I would still be driving it if the suspension was up to the task

You did write DCT though, not select shift, which was why I pointed out the difference. They have already mated the 6F35 to the 2.0 L EcoBoost i4 in the Taurus, Explorer, Escape, and Fusion. Therefore they could theoretically create a boring automatic version of the ST without too much effort, as long as the transmission fit within the chassis rails.

I wouldn't recommend the 6F35 though personally.

As always your accuracy is apreciated. I thought both said select shift on the mobile ford website but I see now the focus says powershift. Searching for complaints on Taurus trans problems doesn't show much. But I see searching for the trans by the number indicates harsh shifts
