I have no freaking idea. I just know it is 2013 and consumer expectations have adapted to that fact.

Your right ford really don't care, the special vehicle team does. That's why they go through years or testing before they release a car or truck. They don't just throw some decals on and call it a day.

What sad is more and more people don't know how to drive a manual. That has adapted to the car world, luckily the are several performance divions out there like the SVT that still use the manual trans in its cars. Like it should. I even drive a auto focus, and my mazda6 has the manu-matic. But I stand by the 3% who want the manuals to stay. I learned to drive on a manual, I've owned 17 cars and trucks 14 where manuals.

SVT is Ford and they operate by the same live or die rule, sale cars and make a profit and try to make your customers feel special along the way. That is just how it is.

All this is great. But to say Ford is screwing up by offering a computer automated manual on the ST is just F'd up. It has the manual option for those whom want it, and they will offer an automated version as soon as they have it ready. If they only offered a DCT/DSG, I would understand the strong feelings, but as is I am at a loss.

i'd like to see that "article" stating Ford is or could be working on a DCT or automatic in the ST...... if i can read about Focus RS rumors i'm sure i could hear about this...

I wish I could produce it. I know I had written the ST off as an option as I am so over having to change gears all the time on a daily driver. But after reading the article I allowed it to remain on my list. I have a lot of saved links but I have yet to be able to find it again. It could have been in one of the car magazines in my cardiologist office? Simple marketing is all I need to know. They are missing my sale and thousands of others not having a computer automated manual option, as this has become the norm in the modern automotive world, and Ford wants to sale cars. Back in the day, when the options were hydromatic auto or manual, yes they would offer manual only. But technology is to the point that computer automated manuals are now in the mainstream, not just high end cars. From the article, I remember they acknowledged the problems with the initial launch of the DCT on the 2012 Focus, and that was something they wanted to avoid on the ST, thus it was going to be a year or so before the computer automated manual would be available. But also acknowledging it is the new norm/expectation and they would loose sales if they didn't get it out there and get it right.
