interior lighting

Hi all,

I just purchased a 2013 focus se, and it seems to me that the interior backlighting is pretty dim when turned up all the way. I have the lights set to auto, but i have also tried with the manual setting to no avail. If the lights are turned off, the backlighting gets brighter as well. Just wondering if I have to adjust a setting or something of that nature.

not sure if this addresses ur issues or not or if u do or don't have the sunroof...
i have the sunroof and so the interior lights are position over the seat backs of both front seats.... imo,, poor placement for map reading and the like..
As well they are led lights and so the light is more focused (no pun intended) than a regular bulb which spreads the light out over a larger area....

I agree they are not as effective as they can be....they should have been positioned between the front edge of the sunroof and the back side of the sunglass holder... imo

Perhaps ur right. I prop didnt read the op well. Tho imo, the instrument lighting leaves a bit to be desired as , for me, on dark roads, it doesnt dim low enuf

Yea the overhead lighting also leaves much to be desired as well..specifically what I was talking about was the backlighting in the instrument cluster itself. It seems to me that the brightest setting is not very bright at all

interesting u say that... i ,too, find it not as bright as it should be but that bothers me less than the fact that i can't dim it enough at night..

at least now i realise im not alone in my thinking....

i also think the the deepness of their recess into the gauge cluster is a contributing factor.....i much prefer to have the dash gauge
cluster more forward as on my previous focus and as on VWs and other vehicles....

Yea it is definitely not nearly the same level of backlighting as my Hyundai elantra or even my past ford escape...Good point on the level of recess into the cluster it has to be something to do with it. Other than this little issue the car has been as expected in the first 500 miles..hoping it stays that way!

Hmm, I have no issue with the brightness of my instrument lighting. I wonder if Ford adjusted the 2013 year lighting vs the 2012, similar to how they took out the LED interior lighting.
