I've gotten the gauge up to 42.1 on a 4 hour trip.

I average 26-28 on my daily highway/city mix drive.

26.4 is my average but if I let it warm up too long it drops to 24.

I've had the 2013 S sedan/5-speed for 3 months now. Coming from 19 years with a Mustang 5.0 that never did better than 17mpg on average, so I have no complaints. In general, I get 29.5mpg with spirited driving, 30.5mpg when I try to maximize (and all mixed driving), so I figure - what the heck - might as well have fun. Won't miss those 12 miles per tankful. BUT... as an experiment, I filled up just before hitting a highway today, and watched the numbers go up to a high of 40.7mpg, just before I exited. This, to me, is a revelation. I may never see an average in the 40's again, but it's nice to know it's there for long road trips.

I was getting 29-30 mpg, but since December have only been getting 27-28. Probably about 50/50 city/highway when you take into account short trips and the hilly terrain. I run about 38-40psi in my tires, drive fairly normal to try and make it a week on a tank. I've been disappointed in the drop off but chalk it up to the air filter being pass due and winter blend gas. Just bought new tires (Cooper Zeon RS3-As) and this is the first tank on those. Should be about 310 at 50 to E. One odd quirk during this time is used to when I would fill it up totally my miles to E would read 395-410. Now it's barely hitting 385. Is it normal to always get about 1.5mpg less than what the MPG gauge says too? Always done it but just wondering.

Mine up until about 3k miles ago was getting great gas mileage. I do about 80% highway driving and I was getting 34-35mpg. That was with my Steeda SRI. I had to replace my Steeda air filter (long story) and replaced it with a Spectre. Now, I'm averaging 29mpg. Either this air filter is dumping more air in (therefore adding more fuel to keep the mixture correct) or there is something wrong with my car. It has 35k miles on it, it shouldnt be getting this poor of gas mileage. Any ideas?

That air filter could be hindering the performance. I would suggest getting another steeda filter and giving it a try.

My car is stock as far as engine goes. Fluids are swapped every 5k (5w20 motorcraft blend) tires are inflated to 40psi 99.9% highway -3hr commute 6min back roads. Computer Avg matches the calculated avg 30mpg @70mph. Car has 117xxx miles on the clock. Replaced the oxygen sensor with a motorcraft part from rock auto $70 shipped. 1/3 what my parts dept wanted. Gained 1mpg back with it. I cant seem to increase the mileage even when "drafting". $3.99 in michigan is killing me right now. 60xxxmiles ago i was pulling down 42mpg.
