I honestly think someone doesn't want to do the job.

When I brought it in. A service rep did tell me it was oil, and it was a big job. Then once it got assigned, perhaps another guy lied, and looked for any possible excuse? Wipe it off, start it up, and hope it doesn't leak?

They would have been better off lying and saying it was rust inhibitor. If Ford REALLY wants you to lemon the thing, they're not giving you very many options.

The transmission acting up is covered by a TSB that reprograms my PCM/ABS/Traction Control. That'll fix the issues I described and others described here. They did not open the trans/engine up.

They updated MyFord Touch/Sync, rotated my tires, and changed my oil. Apparently the oil stain on the lower engine shield wasn't oil either. I'm just full of it... Guess I got nothing else I can do except deal with it, and wait 2 more times, then they can lemon it out?
Is there another Ford dealership nearby to look at your car?

Well, I changed my oil last in September at 20k mi and noticed oil weeping from between the crankcase and bell housing. :( Hoping that it was a freak occurrence, I took a picture and then wiped the oil.

The other week, I changed the oil again and the leak is much worse. :(

I am going to be absolutely livid if my dealer gives me the same answer some of you have received.

FordCustomerService, you should have just received a PM from me. Thank you for your assistance in escalating this matter.

According to the TSB, a "genuine" oil leak (the fluid is slick and not sticky) gets you a new clutch assembly and new seals, no questions asked.

Judging from your picture, you clearly seem to have an oil leak.

Please let us know what happens.

Yep. Thats exactly what mine looked like and when they had me take the tech for a ride to hear the noise my trans was making he seemed like he wasn't completely convinced until I said it was leaking oil. Once I said that it was like I told him the passcode and he immediately dropped any further need of convincing and told the Service manager to order the parts. After the clutches. I've never had any issue with shifting quirks, early / late upshifts, bogging, etc.

My girlfriend's 2012 Focus has been experiencing the exact issues noted in this thread for several months now- a pretty awful grinding noise between shifts, clunky upshifts, vibration, etc. Probably started within the last 5,000 miles or so. She was off work today and took it into the dealer. I armed her with a lot of the knowledge from this thread, as well as the TSB describing the oil leak issue.

They did try to feed her some BS about any clunkiness and noise in the transmission being normal and due to the efficient nature of the DCT. Not sure my eyes ever rolled so hard. They told her they would reprogram the TCM and see if that helped. Based on what I'm seeing here, it seems the answer is no. I had her tell them to check for the fluid leak between the engine and bell housing, so I'm hoping they find something.

Crystal, if the dealer ends up uncooperative in getting this issue resolved, can I go ahead and shoot you a PM? These problems are totally unacceptable for a 2012 car with only ~20,000 miles that has been utterly babied.
