ST vs BRZ Motor Trend mag

It beat up the BRZ a bit even on the road course. Lots of "best FWD car ever" comments has been coming up alot lately.

My problems with the BRZ/FRS:
Too slow
Rear seats are pointless
I'm too tall to fit in one (6'4")

Lol when I put the seat all the way back the back of the seat seriously rested against the rear seats. My knees could steer the car no lie.

Part of it is an age thing and the ST was a bit more of a frantic drive vs the Subi which transitioned better in the turns where the Focus was point and shoot and it did get low marks for torque steer and the artificial feel in the steering and the sync crashed 3x during testing and that all does factor in a review but the performance numbers are impressive from the Focus. The BRZ simply felt more connected to the driver and this sentiment has been echoed in other car rags but also those same car rags have been saying the same "best fwd ever" comments.
Give the BRZ an STI treatment with 50 more ponies and those numbers would switch around but for now the ST is raising alot of eyebrows. The BRZ's seats are just there for insurance purposes ala the last gen Supras.

I personally would like to see a head to head with an Integra Type R which was also considered the best fwd at that time and haven't heard of a challenge til the reviews of the ST came out. The Integra is about 600+lbs lighter but 57 less ponies and no electronic nannies so it would be an interesting comparison.

I dunno i guess its all how you view it, i take all factors including price into consideration. From my point of view i couldn't possibly recommend the BRZ over the ST. The BRZ is slower, has less space, two fewer doors and its even more expensive and rear wheel drive. It is not the more livable car.

It fits the old school definition of a sports car, but its slower in a straight line, and around a track, with less space, Rear wheel drive(horrible in snow), and more expensive, i dont see any benefits. But i guess it ultimately comes down to personal preference.

From a drivers perspective, Ill take the BRZ. Its one of the best driving cars I have had the pleasure of driving recently. Even though you may not get around a track as quick as you would in other cars, I guarantee you will have a bigger smile on your face at the end of the day.

From a daily perspective, the ST is the better choice, its far more utilitarian, while still fun in its own respect.

Well, even though MT liked the ST overall, they were pretty critical of the steering feel/torque vectoring vs. the BRZ.

The torque vectoring and the steering feel has been criticized in several reviews and comments of a traditional LSD would be better have been echoed but the Focus still gets rave reviews and "best fwd handling car ever" says a lot.
