No. Clear works well on lighter color cars - not black. Besides, the OP is thinking of smoking them, so to save him the trouble - he should return the clears and buy smoked.

I got them for $15. And I already have the stuff to DIY. I am gonna give it a shot. A little part like that shouldn't be to hard to wrap.

I want to wrap the shifter bezel to. Mine is chrome and I don't like chrome. I am thinkin of just doing it in black or maybe the carbon fiber look. I know you Stock OEM guys probably won't like the CF but it might look cool.

Just a quick update,

I got my clear side markers today.

Gonna tint them a little and then install them when the car comes out this spring.


Aannnd...I bought a used set of MACH HID Ballasts/igniters. They need to be cleaned. Lol

I am gonna buy the Depo "knock offs" before spring. I can't wait!

Besides that, is there anything else that I need to complete them? I know I need to pick up a set of VW wire harnesses.

you did get the square shaped box (the ignitor) with the ballasts, right?
other than that, might just need the running light sockets and bulbs.

then just wire them up and you would be golden.

IMO

i'm not a fan of the black "smoked" ones... if you tint them properly, they blend in with the bumper perfectly

Yea I got the igniters. And the bulbs as well. I am sure that I will have more questions when I go to do it. I found a couple good how to's that I bookmarked.

It's a light smoke, maybe 50%? Personally I think the contrast of dark and light looks kinda cool on the bumper. They should fit right in when I get the MACH fully installed in a couple months.


Oh, and I bought a set of solid shift base inserts. Can wait to get those in too.
Next on the list after this is probably gonna be the Steeda STS.

yeah i thought about getting those inserts in the BST.. seems cool.. just don't really get what they do. lol


and STS.. YES! i have the CFM and it just feels natural.. like the way it should have come.. i have it on the shortest setting.. reverse is a little difficult getting into some times... but the forward gears are perfect.

i would recomment painting the machs black. but its up to you..


and i forget.. have you done your dogbone? poly inserts run like 25 shipped and shifting and launches benefit GREATLY.. wheel hop disappears.

I guess the STS and the inserts make the shifter just awesome. The factory inserts are vibration preventers. Allowing a little bit of movement in the base so that you don't feel as much of the road. That is my understanding of them. I figured for $40 and all of the great feedback that it would be a worthwhile investment.

I haven't replaced anything in the car in the power train.

As for black MACH's, I like them. Buuut....I like the eyelid look better. Makes the front end look mad. Lol

I tinted one side marker today and I like the outcome.

Just a nice lite smoke.

And a pic of the solid shift base inserts that I can't wait to install when the car comes back out.

Hopefully it will get rid of some of the side I side sloppiness in the shifter.

We are slowly getting closer to spring. Which means closer to driving the car again!
