I entered my VIN on the fordparts website, then when you search for the transmission assembly, it shows the "replacement" part that you'd get - which I presume is your current transmission case. As far as I know, I'm also at B - but fordparts doesn't even show an "A" revision.

thanks for the info.. i did as u suggested and i have a 'B' as well,,, 4k for that sucker!

so does anyone know the differences among the different lettered transmissions, i.e. B,C, D, etc.?

Just clicked over 500 mi. in my new '13, cautiously watching for any signs of DCT trouble. A bit of shudder during the first few days of ownership, but that has mostly ceased. Unfortunately, what's developed now is that after a good bit of time in stop & go city traffic (say 1/2 hour or so), there's a soft grinding noise during low-gear shifts. No sign of it otherwise. Disconcerting. *Really* hoping this clears up over time/miles.

I took my 2012 Focus SEL (just under 13Kmiles) in today because it was doing the same thing. Shudder during low gears (2nd & 3rd I think) and a grinding noise.

The dealer diagnosed it as a leaking seal, saying that fluid was getting on the clutch(es). The dealer has ordered the necessary parts and will notify me when they're ready to repair the DCT.

I read in the owners manual or some other document that the DCT makes lots of weird noises and they are normal. Especially in the first miles. I've driven mine 3000 now in only 1.5 months and can say most of the sounds went away. but you can def hear the gears movin around when you get down to the 2nd and 1st gears. sounds very... robotic

From what I've seen on the forums a lot of the 2012's had issues. so far there have not been any mechanical issues reported with the 2013.

That's not even true, there have been several complaints coming from people with 2013s, and many 2012s with nary a complaint, you may not have come across the entire chain of threads about this.

You don't listen, people are still complaining about the DCT in the 13 for all the same reasons as the 12. Its the same basic hardware, so there is still the same risk of mechanical failure as far as input shaft seals, and or programming issues. The 2013 is not new or improved in any way shape or form over the Job 2 2012 from a mechanical standpoint, at least as far as what's been discovered.

Just because you didn't see people writing about it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Every new 2013 owner lately has also seen to have complained exactly the same issues as the 2012.

A myriad of complaints here Many of whom have 2013 Models. So no its not immune to either quality control issues, and or other factors.
