Pitfalls of 100K+miles on used SVT Focus?

I am at 145,xxx and just had a front axle replaced.

I also had the clutch go at 125,000 ish, car is stock. Love it parts are pretty cheap.

Did all the wheel bearings in the past year. Pretty common I think. Anyone else have their ignition go bad? My key would turn the other day, a couple taps and I was able to turn it over but went to the local lock and key fixed it for 80 bucks. Pulled the ignition cylinder out he copied it to my key and was on my way. Check to see if you haven't done this yet it pretty common in most models.

Timing belt? I didn't do mine pretty sure it was done before I got it with 120,xxx moles on it. At least I hope so.

Thats a pretty big gamble to take for all the more replacing it would cost

First time I've come across the axle issue. What was the "indicator" that caused you to take it to the shop, and if you don't mind, how much to replace?

Any idea of general life expectancy (miles) of timing belt? I'm buying an 2004 SVT with 114k, and TB looks good, but what are chances it is the original? Plus, what is average cost to replace TB when done at Ford Dealer? Thanks to everyone for posts to this thread.

I just paid 570 to get my timing belt, water pump, and all pulleys/tensioners changed at my local Ford dealership. The car was at 102k and I figured it was risky to wait any longer.

Ford recommends ~120K but most people get theirs done between 70K and 100K

I wouldn't wait to change the t-belt many folks on here have had the pop before 100k mi. This one on a local members we just changed not too long ago only had 60k something mi on it










So as you can see sometimes it's not good to wait. Especially on a interference motor, this is why we recommend changing it at 60-80k miles like on other manufacturer's interference motors.
