Straight Pipe Question?

Looked around the Forums but couldn't Find what I was looking for.
I just Removed the lunched box today and put in a straight pipe.

Now I was wondering if I removed the Muffler would that have any negative effect on the car? Thinking just going straight pipe all the way back.
Any words of Wisdom?

negative effect on the car? not really, but might have a negative effect on your wallet from all the tickets you might get for breaking the noise ordinances!! would sound loud and nasty, and not in a good way.

Actually when I did the lunchbox delete I also took off my muffler because I was putting a different one on, it sounded alright it wasn't loud at all, it was as loud as my car is with the aftermarket muffler on right now it's pretty quiet even when up on the r's.

This is the muffler I went with $90 at pep boys DC Sports Iridium muffler, it doesn't really do anything for sound, except maybe even the tone a bit but not even really noticeable. It is about 16" long and basically straight through.

The only real reason I see for needing it would be to pass smog inspection, I don't think they will pass it if it doesn't have a muffler.

Whats the point? Noise perhaps? Why not do a desent 2.5'' mandrel bent system?

i would say just save the money you would have spent on this and put it towards a good system. why spend the money now on something that you don't plan to keep.

He doesn't need to spend money to go straight pipe. All he has to do is take it off, and he can save money for an actual cat back system or save up for a system that also comes with a high flow cat.
