quieting my exhaust

so i got pulled over the other day on the highway by a state trooper and got a warning for how loud it was. i've had this setup for close to 4-5 yrs and never had a problem. i have a zetec with 4-2-1 obx long header, 2.5 the rest of the way with a borla and a 24inch resonator after the flex. i am trying to figure out what i can put in place of the resonator that will quiet her down but still have a nice tone along with the borla. the resonator is no name brand i picked up from a local shop so do i replace it with a borla resonator or a smaller muffler.

ive read on hear that people have had luck installing the longest magnaflow muffler in place of the resonator. I guess its what fswerks uses on their stealth exhaust. If you search magnaflow you will see it

I'd vote a Magnaflow muffler... You could also add a Vibrant (or equiv) resonator

I used an 18" Magnaflow resonator a few years ago. It worked pretty well.

You can add that, or replace the whole section.

how would a cat converter quiet things down. i have one i can put on that my dad took off the 88 5.0. would this work as good as a resonator or possibly better?
