I bought one of those $25 cheapie indoor copters at JC Penny last Christmas. Was fairly fun to fly in the house, but I was never able to add enough directional trim to make it fly perfectly straight. I maxed out the trim knob, but it still turned by itself.

I finally got bored with that one day and attempted to fly it outside. It took off to the west, started climbing and stopped responding to the remote after only about 10 feet of altitude. It flew completely over the neighbor's 2-story house and crash-landed on his back patio awning. It was never quite right after that, so I trashed it.

I got into RC helis for a while back in the day, but them damn things are expensive (i went through rotors like mad).

I have to say though, some of those new cheapo models I see in the toys section at marshalls are pretty fun to fiddle with.

Ive been flying RC airplanes for my whole life basically. The controls on a proper Heli are reversed for some reason, and I was never able to break my muscle memory.

Imagine driving a car that turns left when you turn the steering wheel to the right. Now drive that car from a distance using a remote control, and turn the car around so its coming towards you, what direction do you put into the controler? (seriously, its pretty stupid).

Ill stick to my planes for now. They are faster :-P
