FM Transmitter
I have an 05 focus which has the insanely annoying radio that has no AUX plug in so I'm thinking of just going with an FM Transmitter and I figured i'd check here to see if anyone had any recommendations on which are some good ones considering there is just a flood of them out there.
THanks. |

I've tried a couple of cheapo ones and haven't been impressed...the loss of fidelity just made it too annoying for me to keep using them. I've used the clip on style ones that plug into the ipod's port/plug and the ones that plug into your cig lighter and then connect via 3.5mm jack.
The volume is low and forces you to turn up the volume in car to where it just sounds lousy. Hopefully some one chimes in with a setup that has yielded them better results than me. |

I take alot of roadtrips and was never disappointed with my FM transmitter - the VRFM9 on this page:
http://www.vr-3.com/category.php?c=f...ers-modulators spec sheet: http://www.vr-3.com/downloads/VRFM9_eng.pdf It can transmit on 15 different FM channels, so finding a quiet part of the spectrum is never a problem. Has 3 inputs - USB, SD, and analog stereo jack so you can even play your old Sony cassette walkman.

wireless fm transmitters are horrible. i've done installs for years and every one that a customer bought they ended up bringing back and going a different route. if you want that do a fm modulator. same concept, but is a wired connection through the headunits antenna. they do make adapters that will add an aux input to the factory headunit as well and will work better than the transmitter or modulator. best thing to do though is put in an aftermarket headunit. you will get the aux (or more features) and more power and better sound quality. this can be done for about the same cost as what it would cost to have a decent modulator or aux input installed and has better results.

@Kipp yeah I really hate transmitters in general that's why i wish the car had an AUX plug since it has the AUX option but yeah. I saw online a few places of guys installing one but they always took up the lighter socket to do that and I need that there can't afford to replace it with an AUX and USB plug option. I was originally wanting to wire one in through the vents above the radio and mount it there on the dash since I have my ipod docked in the CD player. But i haven't had any luck looking into it yet.
Thank you. |
