Anyway, i still like premium in my 2012 Focus...

I wish it was 35-40 cents a gallon.... more like 20 cents a liter here in Ontario. Even at that, it's still a better deal for me to fill up on premium, as I get almost an extra 80-100 kms per tank...depending what my right foot is doing

Depends on who you ask, right? My dad ran premium in his old escort and it ran better towards the end of its life. I run 89 in my focus and I feel there's some, though small, gains

In my cobalt I ran over a hundred tanks of regular with mileage of 6.7 to7.1 L/100km depending on whether I had my summer or winter tires on. With the ten to twenty tanks of premium I ran between 6.7 and 7L/100km that's not enough difference for the price in my mind. But on a 13.1 compression bike it changes a lot

Premiums under $3/gal here so it's not breaking the bank to run it and while I do see an increase in overall tank mileage it's probably costing me about the same if I run 85 but we'll see if summer mileage changes that.

Haven't tried using premium in my new SEL hatchback but I do know it made a difference in the 2000 Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon that my SEL hatchback replaced. In the Saab, it was shown in third-party testing that running premium gave 11% better gas mileage and horsepower over regular. That I can agree with. I saw my gas mileage drop approximately 2-3 mpg as an average using regular vs. premium. And in the Saab, I would experience engine knock under acceleration with regular gas and none with premium gas.

I would be curious to if anyone who is currently using premium in their Focus what their increase in gas mileage is and would it justify spending the extra money for it.

I don't have any numbers yet, but so far I felt a definate power/performance increase! So I can only assume it helps the gas mileage. And judging by what people what claimed so far about using premium, yes, it is worth spending the extra money, if not common sense.

The average price difference in cost from regular to premium is $0.20/gal.
(i.e. Regular - $3.49/gal
Mid - $3.59/gal
Premium - $3.69/gal )
The savings on fuel from putting regular, rather than premium, is $2.40.

Honestly, I've been putting in Premium since I owned a Turbo Supra. My Lexus got premium as well. When I got the Focus, I was used to filling up on premium. Through previous threads on this, I'm pretty sure the ECU can take advantage of the higher octane.
