Sync Turn-by-turn without Nav

For those without Nav, have you used the sync turn-by-turn feature? What's your experience with it, and how do you get it to activate. I've been somewhat trying to use it but can never figure it out.

I love it. Down loaded an app on the droid called Send to Car. It does pick odd routes sometime but is pretty accurate. When you use google maps on you phone you get a share this place tab. Once you load the Send to Car program it will show up in the list of ways to share. Since Sync Service also does traffic and I like it better than the NAV, besides all the maps are updated by the service provider so there is no need to buy an upgrade.

Sync turn by turn is well integrated into the focus. I use it often and I get great results.

In conjucntion with the mobile device app (I use the Iphone version) it works well. You program where you want to go and it gets the route for you. Then when you connect with Sync it downloads it to your car. OVerall it's a pretty cool system.

Although I have noticed that it's really using math to determine where you are. I don't know if the car itself has a GPS, but sometimes I get to a turn a lot sooner then it think I should. That seems to throw the system off a bit. But overall it does a good job for long distance trips.

I think the problem is moreso that a lot of the sync features aren't available in Canada. The apps aren't even available in Canada for the iPhone either. shame...

Hi, nseah -

To confirm, turn-by-turn directions are currently unavailable in Canada. You do, however, have 911 Assist. Hopefully you never have to use it, but if you're in a crash where airbags deploy, 911 Assist with GPS uses your paired phone to call a 911 operator. Follow these steps to ensure it's turned on:

I highly recommend that the 911 feature be used. You may never need it, like an airbag, but it is good to know it is there. A great feature!

Used it once and couldn't find it how to turn it off lol. Finally found it after a while.
