When you clear the cell their is a record of it and will report as not ready. Most states will allow 1 or 2 not ready statuses. Also I believed the OBD2 system will hold I formation that you cleared a cell until you complete a full drive cycle.

my area allows 4 or 5 monitors to report not ready. I have passed emissions with a tune and blockoff plate to deal with the EGR. and they didnt do a visual close enough to notice my EGR wasnt hooked up.

the problem is that most shops have no idea how to weld it up. I have gone though 3 different exhaust shops with 2 different headers (because 1 got messed up in a large way). Even had one go as far as putting a right angle tube steel in welded that, cut off the flair and nut on the EGR tube and said some "high temp" silicon would work to "bridge the gap".... that fell apart before I got home.
That is why I did a mock up, found a fitting, cut the hole my self, welded it in and then cleaned up internal to the runner on my own. I did need to bend the EGR tube slightly, but their is still plenty of airflow through the tube. I also plan on tapping my self and making my own EGR Cap that goes on the header bung. so I can get rid of the EGR system but be able to install it when I need it.;-)

I FRIGGIN hate SMOG! If I lived 3 miles East of where I DO, I would not have to have it smogged.

Didnt realize this thread got so much use so far.
Just to update what is going on here, specially for the other IL guy.... So far I've gotten an old egr bung off another focus(thx karl) and got at a shop to weld it on to an old svt header, the egr tube is screwed on & all sealed up, I've got a brand new EGR Valve at the other end of the tube and tightened that down, and i've attached a new dpfe sensor to the hoses on the egr tube. Only problem is, the car starts screwing up and misfiring if i attach the vacuum line to the top of the egr valve, unplug the hose & the car runs fine. Both parts are brand new, on the car for no more than 2 weeks at most(egr valve not even 12 hours currently). I am at a complete loss where to look for the issue now. |

To block off EGR and pass emissions... that might be best to start a new thread. This one is talking about how to add it to the SVT header.
To pass emissions with out it. You need a tune, will cost you some $300+ You will also need a block off plate and leave stuff in and or attached or parts removed so if engine bay inspection is done they wont see it not connected. It will be easier to take it to a shop have them weld in a bung.... but choice is yours.
