2007 Focus - Small Red Light beside Zero on Speedometer

Hi, new here.

Test drove a 2007 1.4L Zetec Ford Focus today here in Ireland and was happy enough with it.

However, I noticed a small red light coming on beside the "Zero" on the Speedometer. It seemed to only come on when I was accelerating. It was off when the car was stopped.

Posted a picture below of the closest image I could find on the web. You can see the small light just beside the 0MPH. It's off in the photo.



Anybody know what this is? Is this standard for this light to come on?

I think that is a shift light, if it's a manual it is there to tell you when to shift up.

that's a nice looking cluster. wish my N.A. '06 had those gauges/face.

i agree with budderybunz, most likely a shift light, if it is indeed a manual.

It was a manual yes. Hopefully you guys are right and its nothing major

seeing as how it is a tiny red light and no-where near the check engine light, abs indicator, oil warning light, etc...i think its no big deal.

Sorry for posting in the wrong thread!

Few people are telling me that its not a shift light. It's a warning light and the central display (e.g. Where it says Road Speed in the above sample photo) should be telling me what the issue is.

I think I recall the display saying something like "0km remaining" during the test drive. The car was low on petrol and the orange fuel light was also on.

Would that be the cause?

Sounds like a good possibility.

Put the minds to ease.... best thing to do is find an owners manual (probably available on-line) and verify.
