Since u won't have to bore and hone ur saving a good chunk there. I went that route becauseit basically makes. The block brand new and I used oversized JE's

I was thinking about having the block honed. The spare block is 100% but, I really think it would be a good idea to strip it, have it cleaned, magnafluxed and honed.

Or is that overkill Sean?

I also need to find out how to have these rods and pistons checked(yes they are used).

Any good machine shop would be able to check the rods and pistons , I would have the same shop check the bore to the new pistons to see the clearances and make sure things are good then have them hone for the new rings
