The only 2 cupholders thing does suck but overall I really enjoy driving this car and I hope it continues to age well as the miles pile up but right now we are only at 6000 in the 8 months we've had it and so far so good.
Maybe a little more rattles than I'd expect for a new car (my 4Runner rattled less at 100k miles) but the handling is great for cheap car and the fun factor has been high and can't complain about the 27mpgs around town considering all the short trips and very little hwy driving.

Bought mine when it came out in August 2011 and have loved driving it everyday since. Granted I'm not a boy-racer but I still love to feel it scoot down the highway or take the twisties. The MFT hasn't really given me any issues other when Ford sends updates down to it, so I've fully enjoyed all the technology. All that plus I still get people asking me about it at least once a week.

What's not to like about this car???

The lack of cabbies/storage gets to me sometimes, the cup holders are also too small to the point of being almost unusable. Pretty happy otherwise.

I don't mean to sound rude but I've never understood what people like yourself need a bunch of little compartments for. My emergency stuff is in a bag in the trunk, chargers and cables in centre console, fuel and expenses books in glove compartment, floss and garage remote in drivers door. I don't see what else I'd need to have while driving.

Agreed. I mean, the glove compartment is plenty big, but I have a lot of crap (little things usually) and I don't want them rattling in my doors because of the speakers.

I was extremely happy about mine for the first 2 months, then I was mildly annoyed, now I regret buying it. If you want something that will last, buy a foreign car. Americans suck at building long-lasting cars.

It is a foreign car. Trouble is (seems to be), it was built by Americans. There's not a lot of discussions about many of your issues in Europe.

There is more than one side to this issue, you know.

How do you know ALL of the issues are built by sloppy workers, as opposed to the American managers wanting to shave off a little more quality materials to make the higher profit margins to look better to the bean counters?

I sincerely doubt every issue in every car is due to some worker not giving a crap about doing his job. And they have to kow tow to what management dictates. "Insubordination" being the last thing a worker wants on his record right now... (or hers, I used "his" as gender-independent and "their" is grammatically incorrect when writing in a singular term...)



(And the Focus now is the same design, now used globally - as opposed to 2009 or so when the US had a totally separate design from the European division (thank the bean counters who decided to unify to "save cost" (or as much as conveniently possible))).
