Having owned both the Fiesta and the Focus sedans (we traded a 2011 Fiesta in on our 2012 Focus), I can say from experience that we appreciated the extra length of the Fiesta sedan. To answer an earlier question, yes, the rear seat folds down. Although the feature leaves something to be desired. You have to fold the seat back part way forward, remove the headrests & stow them in the footwells, then fold it down. It does not fold flat though, and that is just senseless. It does, however allow for stowing cargo of greater length than the hatchbacks can accommodate. In the case of the Fiesta, you gain 13" in length, and that is a very useful addition. I was at Sears once and bought a pruning saw, which was a bit over 6 feet long. I was able to fold the seat and thread it through between the bucket seats and get the trunk lid closed. Not possible on the hatch.
As for looks, that's pure preference. In our case, I like the looks of the hatch, but my wife likes the sedan better. Since she drives the thing most of the time, we got the sedan.

We toted around three large dog crates in the hatch with the seats folded down of course on the way to the groomer but anything bigger or longer I have my 4Runner for that.
Also in a pinch if you have to sleep in the car I'm grateful for the flat folding seats. Still alot of room even with the seats up.

I almost bought the sedan, but then everyone told me to get the hatch. After seeing them both in-person, I decided on the hatch. Like everyone says, it's all preference!

I've got a hatch, but appreciate and like the style of the sedan too. I honestly think they are both great looking cars. Win Win.
One thing I'm constantly surprised at when a Focus is passing me from the other direction, is how long it takes before I can tell which one it is.
