Yikes! Came to the forum looking for help with my left front end clunky rattle when pulling into our garage. Car will be going in for fourth round of "repairs".
Car: 2013 candy apple red titanium.
Repairs done Jan. 14th:
replaced front springs and strut bearings.
Car made no noise until pulled into the garage. Same noise only LOUDER!
Hope there is a fix. The noise now occurs whenever I make a left turn or go over a speed bump.....

I want to offer my assistance, Dysan911. I can do this by escalating up to your regional customer service manager. Please send me a PM with your phone number, full name, approximate mileage, dealer name/state, and VIN.

Twenty & gostinger,

Have you tried speaking with Ford Canada recently? I recommend calling them at 1-800-565-3673. If you have, please let me know what they said.

Cory

Oh, what a nightmare! I've sent some screen shots along to our dealer with the hopes all will go well. I LOVE this car....minus the clunks. It's so darn cute and zippy!

2012 Focus Titanium

Spoke with a front end specialist today regarding the noise emanating from the front end of the 2012 titanium Ford Focus. He believes the issue is caused by the Dust Boot that covers the struts. Apparently the boot does not have enough room between it and the strut and causes the noise we all are hearing. When it is brought into the dealership fir service they put grease on the inside of the boot which causes a temporary fix. There are no additional fixes at this point. However he said that it has been brought tot he attention of the Technician Hotline by several mechanics. All we need to do it continue to complain about the issue and it may become something Ford is willing to acknowledge and resolve.

I don't know if this helps any of you, but I thought I'd share it. If anyone has any questions you can PM me.

Doubt that was my problem .... mine was distinctly metal creaking or metal on metal.

I'm assuming the dust boot is rubber .. right?

Where exactly can you get to or see the dust boot? I'd like to tap it and see if it' makes the same sound I'm hearing. I guess my parts didn't come in yet for my repair. Prob on national back order and Ford still doesn't admit there's any issue yet. Awesome little car if they can just step up and take care of stuff like this.

This doesn't seem to be the issue though as didn't Zillon try basically everything short of stuffing the foam behind the gap to the chassis rails/ strut tower/ firewall joint, and although it quieted down for awhile with new parts or even just lifting the car off the road for a bit then putting it back down.

It might quiet a squeak sound, but not the clunk or rattle of metal on metal.

Mine sounded like one of those clickers that you used with your thumb.

Pretty much a metal buckling sound.

I think they use the to train dogs now.
