Hatches in general are ugly. They look like they have a hunch back. I also DESPISE the rear tailights. To me it reminds me of if someone spit into the wind and it just splatters as the wind drags it.
For those who want the UTILITY of the larger rear cargo area, fair enough. But I like having a locked/secured trunk. Especially on the focus, well on 2012's anyway, there is no interior trunk release button. Not many know, even some owners, that if you unlock the doors that there is a hidden button on the trunk itself to open.

I know it's not Focus-related, but when it comes to the Fiesta, I think the sedan looks like it's got a big butt and the hatch is much more pleasing to my eyes:

Do the sedan's rear seats fold for sticking something longer in the trunk? Not really concerned about somebody accessing the hatch since if they can't see in it a thief will just pass it by.
The sedan just didn't have enough of a sporty design for my taste and apparently held true for the high performance variants since there's no ST,ST-R or Shelby sedans.

on the other hand, the hatch is a TAD tighter in the corners, maybe that all went into ST development too |

I must say I don't like ANY subcompact in sedan form. They just don't look right. The Fiesta, the Yaris, Versa, none of them.

I will say that for the Fiesta, I definitely favor the hatch. I do not like the sedan rear end at all.

Agreed. Except maybe the BMW 1 series. But I don't know I'd consider that subcompact...
