SEDAN OWNERS: why?

Personally ninja run rampant in my neck of the woods and I figure I needed better protection.

For me it's also about having an actual trunk. First car I learned to drive on was a Toyota Tercel HB, then moved to a Camary Wagon, then a Rav4 - none of which had a trunk. Then I drove a Toyota Echo that had a trunk and really liked the spacing and ability to lock something.

I think from my perspective, if I go food shopping with my kids and my kids don't have anything blocking them from the storage area - most of the junk food bought will be eaten before we get home. So having a trunk is a way for me to actually be able to enjoy some tastier foods. Plus, for longer travel the kids would get bored and start looking for their toys in the storage area and make a mess -something they can't do now! Don't even get me started on Christmas time.

Price did factor in for me as well. But overall, I think the sedans look sportier then the HB. It's a personal opinion I'm sure, but I like the lines on sedan better.

I like the hatch really only when it's all done up with options, but I like the sedan better at any trim level, especially an SE w/o rims, like mine. The ONLY exterior element I really prefer on the hatch is that sexy fuel filler door. Plus, it was cheaper. Plus plus, I think the sedan looks better in Race Red. Plus plus plus, my sedan was on the lot the day I went to the dealer, and I test drove it before anybody else had touched it (7 kilometres on the odometer!), and I feel in love right then and there. I don't have a family, it's just myself and my partner, so I figured a younger guy without much money, like myself, would be served just fine without a hatch. And I was right.

To boil down, a combination of price and looks swayed me to my sedan.

Great question, given that there's so much love for the hatch. Nice to share some for the sedan!

Counter-argument! I actually like the HB, but only by a slim margin.

To me, the sedan does have a less abrupt rear light design. However, I feel that like a Corolla, the design is too "safe" and I'm concerned that it won't age well. Although the HB has a back that can be unappealing at times, I also find it more interesting. The sedan is still a pretty machine though.

I grew up with a both a wagon and a sedan. I loved the wagon for the accessibility of the trunk, and hated the sedan for the smaller trunk opening. Many times I wanted to carry something big and bulky, that should fit into the trunk/interior, but doesn't simply because it wouldn't go through the opening.

Finally, I like the more aggressive stance of the HB.

I liked the sedan better. I notice the rear lights to much on the hatch, sometimes I like them sometimes I don't. It depends on car colour. I kinda felt obligated to vote ninja

i got the sedan basically because:

1. I've always had hatches and wanted something different for a change. As well, i was sick of the whole back of the the car (hatches) being cover'd w/ grime in the winter and dust in the summer as the car sucked up crap behind it while driving. That doesn't happen with the sedan (or very little)

2. After sitting in both the sedan and hatch i didn't like the limited rear-ward visibility in the hatch as compared w/ the sedan which has much better rear-ward visibility and virtually no blind spot for me.
