Mustangs and high end cars have glass roofs, I like the idea only if they're Smart Glass (electrochromic) like an auto dim mirror, and they have those already. On a hardtop the sheetmetal in the center isn't doing a whole lot for structural integrity, if the chassis is stiff enough you could glass in it's place. Plus it looks like the glass roof cars have sort a roll cage. I remember they wanted to do glass roof on the 99-04 Mustangs, but the floppy 70's chassis wouldn't allow it.
I just wish Lincoln wold name their cars. "MKZ" and "MKC" that's going to get confusing at the parts counter.

My biggest gripe is how Ford is donning Lincoln with these concepts that are all beautifully designed but are also sporty and athletic looking. To me, that is not what a Lincoln should be.
Lincoln needs to be the last word in luxury. The American Rolls Royce, if you will. This isn't it.

I like it. Should work well for FMC.

maybe if it had a 1.6 Ecoboost but I highly doubt it will. |

And why wouldn't this concept have the 1.6? My guess is the only engine options would be a 1.6 and 2.0. Its not too important, it will most likely have next generation ecoboost engines anyway; but if they were to start production tomorrow I would put my money on the 1.6 being the standard engine.

Are you willing to make a bet? I can almost guarantee that it will not have a 1.6l. The 2013 MKZ is the same platform as the 2013 Fusion. The Fusion has 2.5 NA, 1.6 Ecoboost and 2.0 Ecoboost. Lincoln never carries over the base Ford engines into their vehicles. The 2013 MKZ has the 2.0 Ecoboost and 3.7 NA V6. Most likely the MKC will have the 2.0l Ecoboost along with another higher end engine such as the 2.3l Ecoboost. |

I genuinely don't think you know what you're talking about.
Seriously. The only vehicles Lincoln is competing with at its current level are other Ford vehicles. They need to step it up or go home. In my honest opinion, if Ford wanted to keep this path of just building redesigned/luxury version of other Ford vehicles, they killed off the wrong company. Lincoln should have died in 2010 and Mercury should still be here. Mercury namesakes like Sable are much more notable than MKS. Ford keeps talking about a "Comeback" for Lincoln and they're not coming back if Ford keeps ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -footing around with "me-too" concepts like this Escape clone. Also, the Mkz fits a V6 because it is a different platform. Fusion/Mkz is not the topic of discussion. This concept is built on the Escape which is on the Global C1 platform. We haven't seen a V6 on this platform or even heard of it. If this went into production tomorrow, 1.6 base, 2.0 optional is the most likely combination. It won't matter (as I've previously stated and you've clearly misunderstood) as next generation ecoboost engines are more apt to be on the spec sheet instead. I would NOT count on seeing a V6 on this platform, ever.

I could honestly go on about this argument. Tooling, and design costs prohibit Ford to have Lincoln specific vehicles. I wish I could tell you more but you'll just have to wait for the vehicles release. My bet is the 2.0L Ecoboost base engine with a 2.3L Ecoboost as an option. They'll save the 1.6 for the Escape. And FYI if you knew what you were talking then you would know that the Fusion and MKZ are build on the same CD4 platform. Actually they are built on the CD4.1 which is also shared with the Mondeo. They're three renditions of CD4 platform. If you think a Lincoln is re-badged Ford then don't buy a Lincoln I don't know what else to tell you. I'll be the bigger man and end this conversation. |

CD4 has nothing to do with the Escape. What are you talking about.
You are not reading my posts; you are banging your head on the keyboard with knee-jerk responses.

The Fusion and the MKZ do not share the same exact engine line up. The Fusion and the MKZ are built on the same platform. The Escape and MKC are built on the same platform. Therefore the Escape and MKC probably will not share the same engine line. This is about as lay as I can get. Unless you need me to write for you in crayon or something. |
