Ford stopped using Shelby after the 1968 model year. They thought they could do it better and in house. Thats why the 69 GT500 was a gutted wonder loaded with power robbing options.

Shelby sued Ford over the use of the Cobra name and they settled out of court.

Shelby had a good working relationship with Iacoca and thats why Chrysler asked him to add power to the Charger, Omni and others to boost Chryslers image coming out of backruptcy.

I've always loved the Mustang II's. I had a 2.3 that would walk all over the Shelby Chryslers. Fun little cars when done right.

They were built like tanks. Kept breaking the main leaf on the rear spring from the torque though, till I had a custom set built with an extra leaf that wrapped the main.

Well if that is it remove the side decals and carry on. Quesion is for $15k can u mod a st yourself and have it perform better than the shelby? Prob yes... So long warranty though

That's true but out the door, you're looking at a $40k focus. There is a lot of nice cars at that price range. Just saying. I'm still a focus aficionado.

Oh, if I had the $. Actually, I would probably save $ and buy a regular ST. Though these Shelby versions will surely be rare, sought after cars in the future.
