I do what any normal driver would do. I turn off my cruise and coast down a few mph. He gets closer, so I tap my brake lightly just to turn on the lights, not affecting speed, but warning the guy that he's playing a very very bad game.

ummm, no normal driver would purposely brake when someone is coming fast up behind you. thats stupid, you could be at fault for potentially causing an accident. a normal driver would have just passed the truck and moved on and let the car go by.

Huh? Which is why he should have sped up and finished the pass, not slow down and get back behind the truck.

Anyway, to be fair to the OP about many of us piling on him: this is what happens sometimes when testosterone starts raging when faced with some ass-hat on the road. I've done PLENTY of stupid and regrettable shizznit on the road due to someone antagonizing me, and have been fortunate that no one has been killed or hurt, nor property damaged.

The responses of BOTH of you in the incident were, unfortunately, completely understandable and not at all atypical.

(Meanwhile, I wonder what the trucker thought...)

Had there been more than a hair of distance between our bumpers, I would have proceeded on my way and gotten in front of the truck, but when someone in a hurry tries to impart their will on me via intimidation, I have no issues resisting to the point of forceful disobedience. Yes, I am immature for it, but who am I hurting? This dude hurt himself for getting all in a tizzy, then not watching the road. Calm down, drive like a human, and others around you will as well.
