In the summer I have made just under 700km from full to empty.

This is around 430 miles, in a 5 speed SE Hatch, hwy commuting, going about 55mph to and from work just over 2 hours total per day.

Well, limiting myself to 65mph, and taking it easy on acceleration, with 75% highway and 25% in town/feeder driving, I'm sitting at 34mpg on the display and 310 miles on the ODO with another 90 on the remaining screen. Probably won't push it to that, but yay for being able to get 400 out of a "normal" tank and not just freeway trips.

I have the 5 speed and 35 mpg US is my average on my 100 Mile commute, with 25% at 75 mph and 75% at 60 mph. I have seen a high of just over 40mpg and lows of 33 mpg. Differences in wind, rain and temperature change the economy figures every day. I wish I had another gear to drop the engine
revs at high speed

Damn Skippy. 3k at 75 seems a bit buzzy. Wish it was more like 2250.

In order to get the gearing to do that it would need to be more in line with the Cruze Eco's 0.625:1 6th gear.

The 6th gear in the DCT 0.702:1 is running around 2600 rpm at 70, and 295x rpm at 80 mph.

The 5MT is over 3300 rpm at 80 mph and around 3000 at 70 mph.

My best so far was 378mi. Just short of 400mi. But that's my best since I've been tracking it. 2 or 3 tanks tracked so far. DCT.

It is unusual if I get under 400 miles per tank. The most I've gotten was 508 (11.8 gallons at fillup), on a trip back from Pa. and five days of back and forth to work. I typically drive at 70 and use the cruise control when on the highway. I have an SE sport with manual trans and grill shutters, run 40 psi all around, and use 0W-20 synthetic oil. Since new (23000 miles) its averaged just over 36 mpg.
I work at Ford and know quite a few other Focus owners. It has been my very unscientific observation that the manual transmission owners seem to get slightly better fuel economy than those with DCTs. I don't think the difference in rpm at cruising speed makes as much difference as most people think.

Never really thought about it before, but I just passed 400 miles on my last tank. I average just a click under 35mpg. I started using no-ethanol gas at my local station. Just a little over 2 mpg difference between the 2 fuels.

421 gal has been my best (34mpg avg, ~27 city/44~47hwy).

Which is the best of any car I've driven.

91 octane...
