How do I wire aftermarket keyless entry
I have an 02 ZX3, it came with manual everything. I just recently put doors from a 03 SVT on it that had power everything. Ive got the power window and mirror to work on drivers side but I dont have the GEM so the locks dont work. I'm assuming that the other wires running out of the pigtail at the door jam are gonna control the other mirror and window for the passenger side and I'm gonna go test that theory when I get a chance.
I purchased a aftermarket keyless entry kit and Im hoping someone in this forum can give me a little "how to" on installing it. I have never installed one before. Do the SVT's have the "3 wire ground switched signal step door lock", "3 wire ground switched 2 step door locks", "3 wire positive switched door locks", or "3 wire positive switched 2 step door locks"? Can someone help me out here? |

The diagram shows it has three wires at the switch itself, a ground and two return wires back to the GEM. So I would guess that's a 3-wire switched ground (at the switch).
(I have no idea what the 2-step possibility is ???) The output to the locks: The polarity switches depending on if locking or unlocking (the motor goes forward or reverse) I don't know how it determines how long to run the lock/unlock motor (the above post is based ONLY on looking at the wiring diagram, I have not ever laid my hands on these wires or done an aftermarket deal like you are) |

Re:
I looked at the inside of the door panel and there were three wires coming off the lock switch itself. I was assuming like you that one was negative and the other two were lock and unlock but what I was really lookiing for was where the , I think five wires went to from the lock actuator. I dont know which is negative and where the other four would go.
Also can someone tell me how to check and see if the lock actuator is any good? I would hate to spend all this time on this and find out that the actuator is bad. |
