I never said the car suffered from lackluster build quality and engineering. Quite the opposite, I think the build quality is robust and the engineering phenomenal for a $25k car. That is why it is one of the top selling cars in the world right now. But it is not a $50K car, and to have the expectations of build quality and engineering that come with a $50K car in a $25K car is delusional. Sure there are defects and dealer customer service issues, but a lot of what I read on here, not everything, seems to be from people who bought a Focus and think it should be the same as a Lexus, well it is not, but in reality it is pretty close.

Noted. If I want a car that works properly and doesn't vibrate and is supported by a dealership network that employs competent people, I'll buy a Lexus.

But they're so expensive!

LOL

The DCT would have been great if....software wasn't written to act like a goddamn auto...we get that...the clutches are engaging for christs sake while the brake is engaged or partially. They are eating themselves. Once your warranty is shot then you will understand when the dealer kicks you in the arze with a thousand dollar bill. These are supposedly maintenance free for 150000....good luck. Wait till owners start getting higher mileages and they hit they accellerator to merge and the focus says...not today!

I said a lot not everything. Yes, I wish the Ford dealer service was more competent. The ones I have dealt with have been marginal, and it is not just Ford. I have had GM dealer service talk to me like I was a clueless woman who nothing of the internal combustion engine or drive trains, when in fact I knew more about their product and defects than they did. And in reality Lexus probably isn't much better, it just rhymes with Focus.

That is what I have been saying. That is why they need to offer at least two software options. One for us who get it, and one for those who don't. That is also why I will probably be trading mine when the drive train warranty expires.

I don't know why you would think age has anything to do with it. You've fallen into the trap of thinking the DCT is just fine and the problem is in user expectations. You're wrong: there's a lot of unit-to-unit variability in these things; just because yours works well doesn't mean all others do.

Or maybe you think one age group will be more tolerant of pronounced clutch chatter and transmission grinding? Or dealing with a clueless dealer network, or having periodic "transmission overheating-pull over" messages in normal driving? And the list goes on...

That's it ? Only 45 DCT owners and only 9 with problems ? I thought there are more.
