Anyone having problems with rust spots?
2012 ford focus just flipped 20k miles only 9 months old. I live in ohio which means snow and salt. Car has been pretty dirty for a few weeks so I ran it through a car wash today since the temp has finally climbed above freezing and around both of my rear wheel arches there are small rust spots developing! Has anyone else had this issue?

well #1 car washes are very bad for your car and can damage the paint.
my first question was going to be about the ice and salt, yes im sure the salt has done the damage. considering i have never seen any body ask about rust on there new focus good luck!

I understand that car washes are bad for the paint I just recently moved into an apartment and this was only the second car wash I've ever taken it through otherwise I ALWAYS hand wash it and always keep a nice coat of wax on it.

Where ever you may live that it is so cold that they need to ice the roads, eventually rust will show up on vehicles, no matter what make/model.
Salt creates the rust, taking it to the auto car wash to have the under-carriage cleaned, is a good idea. Having the whole car cleaned, puts some abuse on the vehicle, as opposed to just washing it by hand. |
