Radio light goes off when engine is turned on

Hi Guys im hoping you can help, my Dad has a 2011 plate focus zetec and has a stranage fault on the radio regarding the display and button lights. When you put the key in the ignition and turn it to the first point the radio lights comes on fine, but as soon as your turn the engine on it goes out, the rest on the internal lights work fine its the radio and the lights around the hazard button. Also the radio plays music fine when the engine is on just no lights. I would like to know if any one else has had this problam please.
