They really did away with the rain-sensing wipers on the 2013's? That sucks.

And while the other things aren't exactly the same, to me they are similar enough for comparison purposes.

Probably too many complaints. People with the wipers set to OFF instead of Auto and wondering why their wipers don't come on when it starts raining. That and real problems where it wasn't working. Ever since I started paying attention to Fords and their problems in the early 90's, I've been more and more convinced that every good idea Ford comes out with is killed by their consumers who apparently do not know anything about how cars work.

1) 1987: Ford installs an oil pressure switch in place of oil pressure senders, and installs a resistor on the back of the instrument cluster so that it appears that oil pressure is rock steady until pressure drops below 7 psi. This in response to a multitude of consumer complaints about oil pressure fluctuations at idle.

2) Sometime in the late 90's: Ford installs a similar function to the temperature sender making sure that slight fluctuations in engine temps don't show up on the needle and cause consumer complaints wondering why their car heats up slightly after coming to a stop getting off the highway.

3) Soon to come: Ford stops installing DCTs after consumer complaints. Consumers then start complaining about the fuel economy differences between hydraulic torque converter ATs and DCT. CEO Alan Mually quits after dropping a banner of a giant middle finger at an investor meeting, and says "I'm tired of you whiney biooootches"

I don't understand "rain sensing wipers." Is it that hard to turn your wipers on when you see it start to rain?

It's about as difficult as turning your headlights on when it starts to get dark, flipping the day/night tab on your rear view mirror, adjusting your temperature knob when it gets too warm or cold, and checking your blind spot before changing lanes.

Just another creature comfort with questionable necessity...

That's what I figure. Nothing on my car is automatic...keeps me paying attention. All these electronic nannies just dull drivers. If there comes a time when I'm physically unable check my blind or turn my lights on, I will give up my license and sell my car.

Excuse me, but I'm anything but a lazy driver. I like the rain sensing wipers because I don't have to constantly adjust the speed to compensate for the different rain amounts. It's just convenient and allows me to pay better attention to the road. If you were from where I live, you'd understand that once it starts raining around here, people completely forget how to drive. And I don't constantly leave them on anyhow. I still do turn them off when I don't need them. It's just one less thing I have to worry about.

Seeing as the Focus sold 22,604 last month and they sold just 6,105 Darts, its going to take a lot more money to make people switch. IMO, the poor sales have more to do with looks then anything else. Then again, it might be more like the last Pontiac GTO. If they had named the car anything else, it might not have been such a flop.
