Felpro gasket set headaches.
Ok so I purchased upper gasket set from Felpro for my sons 2002 SVT and the set seems ok other than the intake gaskets (look like a pear shape) and valve cover gasket are not even close enough thickness wise to fit, The package contains a slip saying the head gasket I purchased will fit a VIN3 car with a stamped gasket XS7G-6051C1, and my OEM head gasket is stamped 978M-6051-CF. I take it the CF is the same as C1 but cant find anything on the web to confirm any help would be appreciated.

i had a lot of trouble recently with the fel pro gasket myself. not the same one as you necessarily ( i have a zetec focus that had a valve cover gasket leak) but i got the wrong gasket itself even though it clearly stated it would fit a 2.0. It has to be for the SPI engine.

The pear shape is formed when you put the round gasket into the slit, heat will later cook it into that shape.
Don't know about cover......VIN3 is regular zetec and VIN5 is SVT..................SVT has a equal sided square built into one end of gasket, zetec missing that. |

Yup the Vin3 is for the normal zetec and the Vin5 is for the SVT.

Yeah I surfed the net last night and I need the Vin5 and was given the Vin3, the parts guy I was dealing with thought my car was a Vin3 as the Vin starts with a 3, but it is actually the 8th number which tells you what your Vin is. The head gasket ouside of a few small differences is a dead ringer so I am glad I had a good look at it before installing.
