Hey all, know this is an old thread, but wanted to add some more info to it. I replaced my wheel on my 08 S with a leather wrapped one from Ebay with the Media/Cruise keys, and like others, the media key's did not work. I happened to have a radio from a Focus with the Sync system, and thought I would give it a try. Sure enough, by just changing out the back of the unit, the keys all work but the Phone & Voice ones! Now, if I can just figure out how to add the phone module and if it would be that simple, but alas, have a feeling that it is tied into the Sync system.

Realize this a very old thread but excellent information. I'm getting ready to install a powered sub-woofer to the stock HU in a 2008 Focus Sedan. Selected the Infinity Basslink 200 watt dual 10 inch. I also purchased a Boss 8 gauge amplifier kit and a PAC SNI35 Adjustable 2-Channel Line Out Converter. Buying the panel removal kit too since it was pretty cheap on Amazon and great to have. Question I have is this...what is the advantage to removing the dash and connecting the LOC to the HU or splicing into the rear speaker wires? Will the end result be the same either way? If so, seems much simpler to splice in rather ripping the dash out. Plan on doing the install the week after Christmas. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I've had it spliced from the back of the radio on my 08 since march of 08 and I recently moved the inline RCA converter to under my back seat....absolutely no advantage to having it either place, besides you don't have to run the RCA cables from the front of the car to the back(the reason I moved them )

To the OP, is there any way you could fix the pics in the thread so that they work in the first post?

Anyone know the speaker wire colors for the 08-11 for wiring up a aftermarker HU?
I ordered the PAC C2R-FRD1 as well as the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997 HU. They have not arrived yet but when they do, what wires on the harness do I connect to what wires on the HU?

I used the PAC MS-FRD1 for mine but that one should be similar just minus the screen. It will have the same wire colors as the aftermarket radio and you just match them up by color. If for some reason it is different I can get you the Ford wire color sheet for the 2008-2011 model with every wire color and location for most things. It's a .PDF in case you need it.
