2013 engine "click click whir" (engine not running)

I noticed that after I turn off the engine, I can still hear a whirring sound coming from the engine for about 3-5 minutes. I never really waited long enough to hear it stop but it eventually does. Are you guys experiencing this as well? Is this normal? Or is this something that I need my dealer to look into?

Ford says this is normal, so until we start seeing failures we need to stop freaking out about this.

Good to know. Other than this whirring sound before/after turning on/off the engine, everything seem to be normal. Thanks!

If it is making this sound and is "in spec" just the same as a focus which does not make the sound is in spec, well that is piss poor engineering/quality control.

People don't want to hear unusual sounds with a brand new car even if it is "in spec" especially, like I said, not all of our cars do this. Simple as that.

I suspect that the ones that do have issues are Union made and the ones that don't are made in Mexico. Seriously now, my car dosen't make any alarming noises on initialization. That being said I had a shuttering issue until the computer learned and adjusted to the way I drive. No shuttering since. That was around 100-150 miles on the odometer. now I have 5,500 miles on it.
If your car is clicking for more than 3 minutes then START IT for Chrisake and make the clicking go away!

I read a lot of this thread and am trying to be okay with this sound. My car does not only do it when I open the doors, it also does it when I shut the car off and lock the doors. My sister just bought the same car and hers does not do this, I am very frustrated.

Out of curiosity, your sister's car is also a 2013?
