stock '08 se radio quit working today

Not sure what's going on here. tonight I get in my car and my stereo doesn't come on. When I start the car, the head unit displays "Ford Focus" blinks for a second (like it was going switch over to the normal radio display) then just goes to displaying fm2 and the RDS flashes.
I first thought it was due to the outside temp being a balmy 7*F so I turned the heater on high and drove about 9 miles to town. the radio started playing for maybe 20-30 seconds and went back to nothing but the fm2 and RDS.
On my way home I had the heater on high once again and the warmer it got in the car the more the RDS would flash. I was looking for a place to start looking since it's so stinking cold outside here.

Any help to fix this before contacting the dealer would be greatly welcomed..

Sounds like your head unit went bad, if in fact it did your better served getting a cheap pioneer and since she sounds like she doesnt have sync that drops the price alot. Just get a simple single din pioneer and you'll get a hell of alot better sound. The dash kit is kind of expensive thought but well worth it.

well i went out this morning and the miserable thing was working fine? so who knows what was the matter must have been pms or something..
