This is great feedback, everyone!
For more information on some of these phones and others, check out our compatibility chart: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...c-myford-touch It was recently updated with iPhone 5 information. For those of you experiencing connection issues, I recommend performing a Master Reset, removing SYNC from your phone, and Reverse Pairing the device. Certain phones hold the best connection when paired this way, instead of the usual process of your phone finding SYNC, SYNC will find your phone. Master Reset: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...c-myford-touch Reverse Pair: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...c-myford-touch In regards to the text messaging feature, the phone must support Message Access Profile (MAP). This is a Bluetooth standard developed for the exchange of text messages. If anyone has any SYNC or MyFord Touch-related questions, don't hesitate to give me a shout. Jaclyn

Ok, well I was talked into the Lumia 920 - but when I try to set it up in the Focus, the MFT/Sync returns a reply of this phone does not support this feature for the text messaging. What did I miss? I cannot anything else on the 920 except for the BT on/off screen.

Check the link above that the Ford rep posted. Some phones aren't compatible with MFT to process text messages.
Your not missing much, honestly. While moving it can only read you inbound messages. You can only reply with pre-set messages. My HTC can do it, but I leave it off. Sent from my HTC-Z710a using FF Mobile |

And yes, I am missing much. I do wish to get the text - every time. When you have people that love to text you stuff on your drive to/from work, this is big. At least for me - hence the switching to another mobile phone to make it work. |

Nexus 4 doesn't have the same options under the standard settings or the messaging settings. Not sure it supports Bluetooth MAP, but I'm going to look more into it now. Will edit this post if I find anything.

My wife has a galaxy s3 from att running jellybean 4.11 and it works flawlessly in her Ti with text messaging too (it also worked under ICS 4.04). MFT is running 3.51, had 3.02 before and it still worked.

Ok, I just figured it out for the Nokia Lumia 920. I feel a little stupid but better now.
Disconnected the BT connection. Paired from the car to the 920. After doing this, the messaging button on the MFT screen will still tell you this phone does not support this feature. Ignore it - just have someone send a text. The MFT will announce the message - either the number sending the text or the contact name. It gives the options to reply, call or you're done. Now I'm good to go - I can now answer or at least know what the message is without needing to stop and get the phone out of the console. You cannot create a new text message - which is fine with me. |
