x-cal 3

I have an opportunity to purchase an x-cal 3 from another focus owner. Thing is he still has his tune flashed to his car (which he sold) but he told me that it has unlocks left. So I'm just all kinds of confused. should I purchase it or no?

You would have to send it back to SCT to have it unlock. If he sells it for cheap maybe you can buy it, not sure how much SCT charges to unlock it.

it will be unlocked when stock tune gets put back on car

He is incorrect , the "unlocks" are for when you change from one car to another and the xcal sees a new VIN #

If the tune was not put back to stock with the xcal before he sold his car then his xcal is locked and it cost 150.00 to unlock + shipping both ways then 150.00 for a full custom tune so unless he is giving it to you wouldnt be worth buying
