transmission bearing

Ok my brother has an '00 lx spi with a 5sp and 180k miles.It has a vibration that seems like its coming from the front passenger side.When its cold its worse an it does it at all times.When you downshift is when its worse.The mechanic says transmission bearing.What do you guys think?

Unless you have a better theory or more information, I'll assume the mechanic that actually looked at it knows more about the situation than any of us do.

I would check the axles myself at least, and the carrier bearing on the passenger side axle.
