Sorry guys, I can't agree with the OP that this is the worst car I've driven in the snow. In fact, I have to say it's one of the best because I can slide the shifter into Sport Mode and stay in a lower gear longer.
As for the stock Continentals, yes, they're not the best (like the DWS model) but it's good enough I think. Just don't drive fast in the snow. Currently I have the entry-level Goodyear Ultragrips that Ford gave away with the purchase of a new vehicle and they're really decent as well. |

Had mine out in a 6-inch snow a few days ago. Blizzak WS-70's on 16-inch wheels. Handled great; no problems at all, including hills, off-camber turns, etc. Guess it's all in how you drive it...

Of course the o.p's snow tires were pretty much shot by the sounds of things though to be worse than even the poor stock all seasons.

Exactly; it's all about the tires. If you're going to be in a few snowstorms every year, it's a very good investment to get a good set of dedicated snows. They can pay for themselves in one avoided insurance deductible.

It is not about the tires only.

Hang on, why would anyone blame the car first, over the OEM, all-season tires? The OEM tires are not made for driving in the snow...

Even worse, why would the OP blame the car over worn out snow tires?

You guys want to have fun in the snow.
Try driving a 5 speed Titanium with the Titanium handling package tires. The Pilot 3 summer performance tires are unreal on dry or even wet roads. But let it see a snowflake or worse several inches of them and its an adventure just trying to get moving on an snow/ice covered road. A slight slope is a virtual impossibility and gives the TC system fits. I don't blame the car or the driver, its ALL the tires fault. I'm an old man who drove 2 different Rangers for nearly 13 years before this car. Both had 4 bangers and 5 speeds, but in the close to 500,000 miles I put on them. I never had a problem in snow because I always made sure I had good AT type tires on them all the time. I was looking around for a new set of rims to put some decent winter tires on for winter. But I didn't find any I liked soon enough so now I'm stuck with sliding it around corners

Ive since ordered up a set of Falcons, my only gripe with the car is the traction control. Found it a little to controling so to speak. However thats probably got a lot to do with the tires on it now, but I have driven cars with TC before and less of a tire that did not bog down near as much. I personally prefer zero driver assists at all, but these days thats hard to find if not impossible.
