Ahhh. I get to bring back up this old thread It also reminds me I need to remove that roof rack I installed, and repaint it. Apparently I didn't scuff up the metal enough before painting. I think I painted when it was too cold too. It's been a few years. Thankfully roof racks are made of aluminum not steel.

Wake up there list! There is a new sound in town. :-) Okay, I'm done.

I have a 2005 ZXW with 132K and am the original owner. Love the little car. Still gets great mileage and even after a considerable investment here recently in suspension, bearings, brakes and a new set of tires, I still love the little gold monster. I bought it as a work car originally years ago, but decided that it was more comfortable than my Windstar minvan. Now the van has nearly no miles and the Focus has it all..........Great little cars. Really.

Congratulations. I am also an original owner of an 05 ZXW 5 spd. I ordered my car since there were no manual transmission wagons of any age available used in 5 neighboring states. I have over 150k miles.

Current problems: Bearings, brakes (upgraded to SVT 4 wheel disc at 55k miles), bushings, springs (just old, car still rides fine), tumble flap noise (sounds like valves, but is not) Possible mani-cat issues expected at this mileage, but not confirmed, the clutch is old, and the pressure plate bounces sometimes like an old farm truck under light acceleration in tall gears.

Modifications: SVT brakes, poly engine mounts, CAI, SS exhaust, Ford design roof spoiler, replaced factory roof rack with low profile Windstar design, Weathertech in-channel wind deflectors, Centerline 17x8 wheels, and 215/45/17 tires.

Past repairs: Shift tower pin broke (140k), CV axles (130k), B&M shifter removed after axial arm broke (120k), reverse lockout removed, negative battery terminal wiring broke causing the wipers to come on when off and stereo to max volume, coil boots replaced at 80k, 2 sets of sway bar end links.

Future planned repairs: Clutch, this year maybe, struts/springs/bushings this year, will need more sound deadening after that because poly bushings transmit more road noise to the cabin, adjustable control arms F&R, splash shield (broken by a critter), possible engine upgrade next year. I was hoping the clutch would last until then- we'll see how it goes. Side bump guards need replacing.

It's a great little car, but I don't think I'll ever buy new again. When the wife's Windstar dies, she's already hinted that a new style Focus is what she wants. It's too bad that they don't make a wagon version stateside. Global WHAT Ford? A Transit Connect wagon is also a possibility if used versions of the new body style are available when the Windstar goes- and it passes IIHS safety tests.
