Dashboard Warning Lights (what are they)
Hello,
I have a few warning lights appeared, thing is , im pretty sure my car doesn't even have these features installed. The picture is attached. The top on i think is a slip indicator (middle one we can ignore, car was not turned on) and the bottom one is anyone's guess....coil packs....spark plugs maybe? These lights are never fully illuminated (like the engine warning light) but they pretty much don't go off at all now and flicker when i am driving. To be honest im just making sure my car is not fitted with them (it doesn't even have an mpg calculator!!!!) Next steps for me are to put the car in diagnostic mode and read of any codes using torque pro (not done it with this car yet so need to find the slot....a separate post perhaps), will probably then disconnect the battery if this fails and the final step being just to find the fuse and disconnect. Any ideas forum people?

Meh.

If you still have your owners manual, it will give an explanation for every light on the dash.

Glow plugs. My Dodge diesel has the same light it indicates when the glow plugs are active in cold weather. In my vehicle I am supposed to wait until the light goes out then attempt to start.

The top one is the Advancetrac icon, (at least in the states) it's a little different from regular traction control. There would be a button around the shifter for it.
The bottom one is indeed for glow plugs in the Euro diesel option.

error
well this does indeed appear to be an error since im pretty sure my car is not fitted with these features. It is also a 1.6 petrol (UK).
I think i might be safe to ignore these lights, like i say they flicker and all sorts, i have been experiencing a few odd judders but this car does have a past experience of having the infamous leaking washer jets (which i have now fixed). It's at 50,000 mles though and well over due a spark plug change, oil change filter change air filter change yadda yadda yadda. I have an obd 2 connector which will hopefully clear these errors or like i said i willl pull the fuse because the flickering does appear to be an electrical short somewhere, just hope these are on there own fuse and not linked in with something else. |

P.S. my car does not even have the extra stalk fitted around the steering wheel just a simple indicator stalk with a few radio controls on and another for the window wipers.
