When I was 18 I saved my pennies and picked up a brand new (year old) 05 monte carlo...I loved that car. I hadn't done any real sound system work to speak of, so I took the car to best buy to get a system put in, dropped about $1500 for everything and they F
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ed my car UP. Trashed the wiring, nothing worked anymore, half the time when I was changing radio stations my onstar would come up. If I turned up the subs too loud Onstar would call me and ask if I had been in a wreck (not because the subs were hitting hard enough to set off the sensors, but because they royally screwed up the installation). Took the car back to best buy 3 times (3 hour drive for me each way to the closet best buy) for them to remedy the situation, they never did and just kept giving me excuses. Told them to take everything out and they decided to hit me with a restocking fee which I refused. Fought hard enough that after about 9 months they gave me back my money and paid for my gas for ONE trip to the store and back. After that I vowed to never let those idiots touch anything I own again and taught myself everything I needed to know about car audio and made myself a lot of beer money in college doing sound system installs for friends. |

Yeah I wouldn't let best buy touch my car. I am doing a simple sub install tomorrow. Just splicing into behind the head unit. No offense taken. I have done a HU and amp/sub install in my truck. It has been a while, but I know how to do it. I just don't know a ton about the electrical terminology and the science behind how it all works (Dads an electrician, I know..Its sad) It's the complex audio setups that I am completely new too. Still don't under stand ohms, amps, wattage, etc. But I am doing my reading, I don't expect anyone to teach me that. I should have my 2 12 inches going by tomorrow. I am going to try to make it look completely factory, no wires hanging our showing anywhere. Just nice and clean.
