Also, How do they tint windows? I have some star wars decals on my back window that I would really like to keep and was wondering if they tint from the inside or the outside ?

Obviously I am a newb :P
If you are worried about getting pulled over, I would tint the drivers side and passenger side windows with 50%. It is "light" but it still does make a noticable difference when inside the car. From the outside it is hard to tell it is even tinted.

50%:

all my side windows are 50%:

Rear window is 35%:

Edit: it is really hard to accurately show the tint darkness, but 50% from the outside is hard to tell it is even tinted over the factory windows.

Thank you (: My thing is it looks kinda weird to only have the back windows tinted. But it cost more to tint all the windows. So I guess I have to decide if it is worth taking the risk. Though I guess I could do like 35% on the back windows and like 50% on the rest?

That looks really nice (: Would it look weird to do 35% for the back windows and the rear window and then do 50% for the front windows?

I was contemplating doing that, but my car is registered in PA where you can't have any tint (well 70% tint) which is basically what it has from the factory. So to limit my chances of getting bothered by the cops, i went with 50% on all my sides and 35% on the back. Like I said, the side windows from the outside really do not look tinted. You can tell they are tinted when sitting in the car.

If I had your tint laws, I would do 35% on the rear side windows and 50% on the front side windows.

When you go to a tint shop (make sure it is REPUTABLE!!!) ask for them to press the sheet of tint against the window before they put it on, so you can decide what looks best to you.

I was recommend a place by the dealership I got the car from. I believe they use them for tint when they tint customer's cars. And the reviews on them are great.

Now when tinting, the windshield doesn't get tinted right?

It can, but that's a separate price generally.

You could just go with a darker tint band or tint the whole windshield.

That was 30% on all the side and rear windows, and 50% on the front windshield, just outside the plant where the car it self was built.

It really depends on how much the law is going to enforce tint laws since we have them here in Colorado and I've been pulled over for speeding more times than I'll say here and I always roll down both driver's side windows before the officer approaches and never even had a mention of my tint. On my 4Runner I have 15% on the rears and 20% on the fronts and on the Focus it's 20% all around and 15% on the rear window.

oo I dig that. Does it make sense to tint a windshield though? Would it look better to do like 50% tint to match the front windows? I really just want tint to look nice I live in a state that has little sun.

It makes a big difference even at 50% on the front windshield. I originally wanted it to be the same 30% as the rest of the windows, but since I didn't have the dr's note to present the shop only wanted to put 50% or nothing on there at all.

It doesn't completely remove the solar gain, but it does help, and it takes the sting out of both the sun as well as the headlamps from other cars.

Its not too dark at night, but I still often need to wear sunglasses during the brightest part of the day

I think it looks pretty nice and probably would look better than doing nothing so it would match the rest of the car. But of course the other issue is the cost. I don't really know what tinting costs. I was quoted 150 when I had my Kia Rio but that was also through a friends shop that they no longer own and it was south from where I live now and everything is cheaper there. I was looking around and it seems like 200-300 is about normal?
