Mobil 1 and K&N filters are one in the same. Better than your standard cheap filters, but for what they cost....you may have well as purchased the far superior Royal Purple or Amsoil EaO oil filters. Nano fiber > synthetic cellulose

Hey, that's great. Thanks for the pics and the info. I wasn't aware that K&N and the Mobil-1 filter were the same. I've chosen the K&N filters because of the .75" nut welded on top of the oil filter. On all my other vehicles, including my Harley, where the oil filter is hard to reach, having that nut has been a lifesaver. Although based on what I can see from this thread the filter appears to be easily accessible where the nut wouldn't be necessary.

I wonder, are the Mobil-1 and K&N filters priced competitively?

Not really, they are ~13.00 per filter. Most people use lesser filters to save money.

If I were going to spend that much, I'd go ahead and invest $15.00 in a Royal Purple filter.

Amsoil preferred customers get the EaO filters @ ~13.00

Yep. You're right. I checked AutoZone (see link) and it looks like the K&N filter runs about a dollar more than the Mobil-1 and the Royal Purple about $15.00. I found some good videos on YouTube also which shows the various filters dissected and truly the Mobil-1 and K&N appear to be the exact same internally.

I'd like to see a comparison of the OEM FoMoCo filter as they are the only ones I ever use on any of my cars

FWIW most are (or at least used to be) made by Purolator. I don't think they're a rebranding of a Purolator filter, though...made to Ford's specs.

ask and ye shall receive *This is the MC filter that will match up with those posted above, not the exact filter that is built for the Focus*

If a oil filter is too restrictive it can lower oil pressure, just a note.

Depending on which side the oil pressure sensor is on. A restrictive oil filter can cause different results.

Sensor before the filter - pressure will rise due to restriction

Sensor after the filter - pressure will fall due to restriction

This is why I love nano fiber synthetic media. It's able to filter the best, yet still flow the best. It's rare when a single product can give you the best of both worlds.
