Bought my dads 03zx3 today. 185k highway driven and garage kept. No rust almost flawless. Second focus i've owned and its good to be back in a first gen.

Hello.

I bought a used Ford Focus ZX3 from 2001 (Zetec-E? engine).
It was in at least 2 vehicle collisions before I bought it. It looks new though!

It is very close to 140k miles! I bought it a year ago in September, with ~110k miles on it.
I am about to add ~3k miles in a few days (road trip!).

Compression tested the cylinders today, and they seem OK.
185-185-185-175 (cold engine; 8 cranks)
195-210-210-200 (cold engine; ~25-35 cranks -- Cannot get any higher)

Fixing to change the oil here shortly. That was a dry-test only.

02 zx3 138k original motor, the tranny was replaced at 120k, shredded diff spider gears. Original brakes until 110k, haven't reached minimum specs yet! Original shocks lowered on apex springs for 138k, not even close to blowing. Now on h&r coilovers.
Timing belt replaced at 70k, kent cam gears have been eating the grooves then shaved it clean while driving.
Basically zero trouble miles except timing belt! :)
